Asking For Your Support

Posted By Derek Nance on Feb 10, 2014 |

In September, 2012 Bryce and I decided we would start up a blog as a way to rant about handbells.  Almost a year and a half and 135 posts later, the blog is going strong.  Somehow we have also managed to pick up 348 followers on Facebook, 112 on Twitter, 37 on Tumblr, 51 on email, and 54 on YouTube along the way.  We’re not sure why everyone follows our humble blog, but we are grateful to everyone who does.  We both love working on this project and hopefully we can keep doing it far into the future.
However, the time has come that we need to ask for your help.

A lot of time and money goes into this project.  Each post takes at least an hour or two of writing, rewriting, and formatting plus hours of research before hand.  Website hosting and other web-related costs add up over time.  Traveling to festivals and conferences is quite expensive.  We would love to keep expanding and bringing your stories from more places, but Bryce and I are both poor post-grads at the moment, so there becomes a monetary limit to how much we can do with this blog.

Let me first assure everyone that we will never charge anyone anything for our content.  We have both benefited from the generosity of others to get to this point, and we want to return that generosity in kind.  However, if you feel so inclined to subscribe to our blog and help us out with a monthly donation, we would be eternally grateful.  We have chosen to partner up with a new website called Patreon to manage our subscriptions.  Patreon was created by small content-creators like ourselves for projects like ours, so we also wanted to show support for their project by using their site.

Along with adding a subscription to the blog, we are going to start posting on a more consistent schedule.  Check back here every Monday and Thursday (around 11am Pacific time) to see new stories and videos!

This blog is a labor of love, and I’m glad we have been able to share our love of handbells with all of you.  The handbell world is a small, close knit community, but every time we think we have seen everything bells can do someone comes out of the woodwork to surprise us.  If you have a story or video to share, you are always welcome to contact us.

Thank you for all the support you have given us thus far.  If you feel inclined to help us out with a monthly donation, head on over to our Patreon page.  There you will also see the perks we are offering for donating.  As the blog grows, we hope to be able to offer more awesome gifts to say thank you for helping us out.

Here’s to many more years of stories about handbells and the interesting people who ring them.
