Even Carillonneurs Love Game of Thrones

If any of our followers are Game of Thrones fanatics like the rest of the world, you will appreciate this video.  Lyle Anderson, the official carillonneur at UW-Madison, performs the theme from Game of Thrones on the 56 bell carillon at the UW campus.

Lyle Anderson is a legend and persistent figure on campus.  Starting in 1986, he’s given weekly carillon concerts to curious passers by.  Anderson is the school’s only carillionneur.  According to an interview in 2010, during his concerts he leaves the tower door open for curious students to come up and see the bells.  Since it’s original construction in 1936, the tower has grown in size to an impressive 56 bells, ranging in weight from 15 to 6,823 pounds.  Since there aren’t many people anxious for a gig performing carillon, Anderson plans on remaining at UW-Madison for as long as possible.
