Long Live the Life

Today’s pop music feature is probably one that most bell ringers are familiar with.  Kevin McChesney‘s arrangement of “Viva La Vida” has been performed by numerous ensembles.  This performance by McChesney’s own group, the Pikes Peak Ringers, I found to be unique because the group sings and plays simultaneous, creating a beautiful, rich sound.  I remember seeing this piece performed for the first time in 2010 by Bell Appeal at the big Area XII conference that year, and I have always sought out new performances of it where ever I go.

If you have not seen the original by Coldplay, you should check it out!  The piece sounds perfect for handbell arrangements.

Only one more day of pop music week.  Any guesses what we will post last?
