Summer 2014 Updates

Posted By Derek Nance on Jun 25, 2014 |

Somehow it is summer already, and Bryce and I are already into yet another bell trip.  So today is a quick update to let everyone know what we are up to and what to expect from the blog in the coming months.

East Coast Concert Tour

Our bell group from Reno, Nevada is on tour right now in North Carolina and Virginia!  (We are actually writing this post from Michael Glasgow’s guest room).  The group, Tintabulations, is presenting a concert entitled “Greetings From Tintab” filled with music from composers most bell ringers would recognize.  From “Stairway to Heaven” to Arnold Sherman’s “Grazioso” this concert has it all.  If you are in the area, come see us on these days:

  • June 26 – 7:00pm concert at Lutheran Church of the Good Sheppard (22 Fisher Road, Brevard, North Carolina)
  • June 28 – 11:00am concert at Mary Pretlow Library (111 Ocean View Ave., Norfolk, Virginia)
  • June 28 – 3:00pm concert at Chesapeake Central Library (298 Cedar Rd., Chesapeake, Virginia)
  • June 29 – 2:00pm concert at Major Hillard Library (824 Old George Washington Hwy, Chesapeake, Virginia)
  • June 30 – 7:00pm concert at North Raleigh United Methodist Church (8501 Honeycutt Road, Raleigh, North Carolina)

Come by and say hi!

World’s Greatest Handbell Competition

We have had 23 submissions for the competition, which is far more than we ever expected to have for our first time!  Because of the rocky start, and because we are on tour for the week, we will take submission up to July 1st.  Several of you have expressed a desire to submit a video, so now is your chance to get your submission in!

We will be doing the judging and viewers choice voting in July.  More information to come about that in future posts.

National Seminar

Derek will be at National Seminar this summer in Atlanta, Georgia.  Be sure to say hi when you’re wandering around conference.

Thank you to everyone who helps support us in the crazy endeavor.  We do all this crazy bell traveling to try and bring you the best stories from around the handbell community, but it’s not cheap.  If you have some extra funds that you would like to send our way to help support us, you can visit our Patreon page for all the information.

We’ve got another big announcement coming down the pipeline, so be ready for something new at the end of the summer!
