Timbre – Group Spotlight

Posted By Derek Nance on Sep 20, 2013 |

Timbré is an advanced small ensemble focusing on classic and avant-garde original handbell literature from Southern California. They seek to advance the artistic growth of handbells by setting high standards of musical performance and by encouraging composers to write new works for handbells, either alone or in combination with other instruments and voices.

Still A Young Ensemble

Timbré is a fairly new ensemble… as they said: “Our debut performance was at a lunchtime concert Saturday, April 9, 2011, at the Southern California Spring Ring. We are currently seeking other performance opportunities.”

That being said (or written …), I definitely can’t wait to hear more of them, and actually see them perform live, because from what I have seen, they are amazing! And the fact that they love to play more challenging pieces, and are willing to try original compositions, is admirable. It sure seems like they are having a lot of fun, doesn’t it?

And, like I always say… That is what this is all about… Doing what you love, trying new things, and having fun!

Keep on ringing, Timbré! And keep us posted!
