Top Albums of All Time

This last semester, I enrolled in a recording tech and listening class. My professor had a huge discography behind his name including Whitesnake and Dr. Dre, among many others. The final day of class I posed a question to him: What are the five best records of all time, in regards to engineering and mixing? Here is his response
(I posted videos of the title tracks.  However, for those interested in critical listening justice is not served unless you purchase the high quality tracks).

1) Steely Dan: Aja

2) Toy Matinee: Toy Matinee

Lead singer Kevin Gilbert is one of my musical heroes, if you enjoy this song, I would strongly suggest checking out his song “Suit Fugue”.

3) Crowded House: Woodface

4) Barenaked Ladies: Gordon

5) Peter Gabriel: Up

So there you have it, a music industry professional’s list of top albums of all time. If you had to make a list of the best recorded handbell albums, what would make the list?  Let us know in the comments below.
