Good Christian Men Rejoice by the Calvary Ringers

The Calvary Baptist Church Handbell Choir performs "Good Christian Men Rejoice" on day 21 of Handbell Advent

As we near the end of handbell advent we have to share this amazing arrangement by Kimberlee Strepka. Chances are you have played it at a festival the past few years, or heard someone else playing it. By melding “Good Christian Men Rejoice” with an Irish jig, Strepka has managed to make a catchy tune even catchier, which is no small feat in an over saturated holiday music market. The challenge in this piece lies not in the 6/8 meter, but in the solo treble line that leaves no room for error.

In this video we see the ringers from Calvary Baptist Church in New York, New York perched around the organ. They do a great job bringing out all the layers in this piece.

Only 3 days until Christmas! What will tomorrow bring?
