Greensleeves by the Houston Bronze Ensemble

Houston Bronze performing "Greensleves" by Cathy Moklebust

Day 5 of Handbell Advent brings us a beautiful arrangement of “Greensleeves” by Cathy Moklebust expertly played by the Houston Bronze ensemble. Moklebust has become an expert in turning Christmas carols into epic emotional journeys, and this arrangement is certainly one of them. Starting with the wind chimes and tiny bells twinkling on top, the piece makes you wait a full 4 minutes before finally swelling to a climax, holding you in suspense the entire time.

Also, kudos to Houston Bronze for the wonderful staging. The lighting and decorations look beautiful, and I love the way the ladies’ red shirts shimmer in the stage lights.

The Handbell Advent celebration continues tomorrow. Can you guess who will be featured?
