Welcome to day 1 of The Handbell Blog’s Advent celebration. Over the next 24 days we will bring you holiday videos by handbell groups from across the globe. Today’s is one of my all time favorites. Under the direction of Mr. Toshikazu Yoshida, here are the ladies of Kinjo Gaukin University destroying this transcription of Tchaikovsky’s “Valse des Fleurs” from the Nutcracker.

Those of us who had the honor of playing under Mr. Yoshida’s baton at Distinctly Bronze West in 2016 can still vividly remember hos difficult this piece was. During all those runs I always felt like I was dancing a delicate dance between ringing quickly and flailing out of control. But I would gladly do it again in a heartbeat.

Join us again tomorrow for day 2 of our Advent celebration.
